What is an X-ray? (discovered 1895)

It is a form of electromagnetic radiation. In many languages, X-radiation is called "Rontgen radiation" named after the German physicist who discovered it, Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen,

He called it X-radiation to denote its unknown nature. This mysterious radiation had the ability to pass through many materials that absorb visible light.

• X-rays also have the ability to knock electrons loose from atoms. Over the years these exceptional properties have made X-rays useful in many fields.

• X-rays are made when negatively charged particles called electrons are fired at a heavy plate made of the metal tungsten. The plate bounces back X-rays.

• X-rays are so energetic that they pass through some body tissues like a light through a net curtain.

• Each kind of tissue lets X-rays through differently. Bones are dense and contain calcium, so they block X-rays and show up white on film. Skin, fat, muscle and blood let X-rays through and show up black on film.

• X-rays are very good at showing up bone defects. So if you break a bone, it will probably be X-rayed.

• An X-ray laser device was proposed as part of the Reagan Administration's Strategic Defense Initiative in the 1980s, but the first and only test of the device (a sort of laser "blaster", or death ray, powered by a thermonuclear explosion) gave inconclusive results.

• X-ray sources are stars and galaxies that give out X-rays.

• The remnants of supernovae such as the Crab nebula are strong sources of X-rays.

• X-rays are emitted by electrons outside the nucleus, while gamma rays are emitted by the nucleus.

• X-ray star binaries pump out 1000 times as much X-ray radiation as the Sun does.

X-rays are very interesting, because of them we are able to cross boundaries, between our body and the flesh. A lot of illnesses have been cured through the help of the x-rays.
But as they say, "what you don't see and feel can also hurt you." Too much exposure to radiation can damage your cells and even cause you cancer then leads to death.
Radiation is cumulative, it never goes away, it is just added until the cell dies or the genetic aberration results in cancer or death.


But it only happens if there is a constant and regular exposure to x-rays.

So let us take care of our health. We don't need to wait 'till we get sick before we act. Though we have the technology to cure almost anything...

College Life

College life is either the worst or the best years of your life. The best thing about college is that we can meet new people. College is to prepare a student to be independent and responsible. Its a prepearation before the real thing. At first college life might be boring and lonely becouse of the limited people we know but as time goes on we meet different people which makes college worth while. From my experience friends are very important in college they can help in school,hangout when bored. Althought there are some friends that can destroy you. Friends that can get you into drugs, fights ,those are people who should be stayed away from.

Boys usally have one thing in mind when going to college,girls and same with the girls. college might be the place where you can find a person that can make you fall in love. Or a person that could break your heart but mainly college is about school and studies. You cant avoid problems like this, thats just the exciting part about college. You never know what will happen the next day.

College brings out the best and the worst of your abilities. It may develope your strenghts and srtenghtens your weaknesses but only with a persons own will and motivation.

Reminiscing my days

I can't believe it. I am now in 1st year College. Time flies so fast. My mom always asks me, why did i grew up so fast? She misses the days when I was just a baby girl, a good and innocent baby girl. well that doesn't mean that I'm not a good girl anymore, its just that I'm more mature now. But i have to admit it, i miss the days when i can tell my mom everyday that i love her without awkwardness. Because most of the teenagers now want to be "astig" or cool, they doesn't want to show their soft part, when it comes to parents. For me this is not right, but its hard to bring back those days when we are super loving babies of our parents because our environment and culture now is different from what used to be.

My Grown Up Christmas

While growing up people begin to have different views of christmas. During Childhood we tend to think of christmas as a day when we receive presents,eat a lot of food and time to play with our relatives. As kids we have no idea about the real meaning of christmas,but as times passes by we slowly learn about the real meaning of christmas. Although that would depend on traditions,religions or by simply how a person is raised up.

As a grown up,christmas is mostly about being with families and as for my religion, go to church. For christians, christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ and one of the most important holidays in the christian calendar. Ever country have their own way of celebrating christmas depending on their traditions and cultures.

For me Christmas is about spending time with our loved ones. It might be our family, friends or just a person that makes me happy. It is about spending time with the person or persons that make us feel joy and acceptance. Or simply the people who we love. :)

I miss pampanga, i miss high school!

I really really miss my home town Pampanga! Even though i go back there every weekends its still different from being there everyday and being there for just two days. I miss my high school friends, how i wish my parents would allow me to study there.

Its not that i don't enjoy studying in Miriam College but i guess i can enjoy college life more when I'm with my best friends. All of them are studying in Angeles University, i am really jealous because they study there together.

I miss high school days, all the fun, prom and parties. The fun never stops in high school. If i could go back to those fun days, i would. i want to be a high school student again!

I remember my oh-so perfect senior prom, it was held in Shang Ri-La Hotel last February 14 2009. The prom was so fancy, fun and sweet. Me and my boy friend had the best night ever. We danced all night long, it was really fun. After the prom, together with our friends, we stayed in one of the suites in the hotel, the Luzon suite. We shared stories, took pictures and then after that, went out to party.
High school was so fun. I miss the old days.

Paranormal Activity

I watched this movie online because its not yet shown in the Philippines. This movie is a footage of two couples living in a house that they think is haunted. They placed a video camera in their bedroom to record any unusual phenomena. They found out that Katie Featherson, Micah Sloat's girlfriend is being followed by a bad spirit or a devil.

Katie said that this is not the first she encountered this bad spirit because when she was just a little girl, this bad spirit is always showing up to her. And then when she and Micah decided to live together this bad spirit started showing up again. They bring in an Ouija board in an effort to talk to the spirit, but this move offended the ghost.

They said that this is a true to life movie, if it is so... this is really creepy.
I do believe in bad spirits, my dad used to tell me stories about these bad spirits, he said that these are forsaken angels. When Lucifer or Satan was thrown out from heaven, some of his disciples, the other angels joined him. Those angels are the bad spirits that are here on earth.

Watching this movie, made me more aware about other creatures that are here on earth.
